Who Are We?
The Aspen Mountain Rover Crew is a traditional co-ed scouting group of the Rovering 4 Life Association. We base our methods and progression off of original texts penned by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the father of the scouting movement, and other early scouting pioneers. This group was founded in August 2020 by Sarah Bailey in Weber County, Utah, and is now based in Davis County, Utah.
We are adult scouts, called Rovers, where we progress through our own program of achievement and development like youth scouts do. We are not scouters, although B-P encouraged Rovers to use their skills to teach youth scouts. We wear our own uniform, lead in our own patrols, and use Rovering as a method to develop mentally, physically, and morally, and to practice good citizenship. We dedicate our lives to self-sacrifice and service through the Scout Promise and Law.
What Do We Do?
We learn fun practical skills like knot tying, hiking, camping, ax use, first aid, and more. We grow self-reliant in the outdoors and in life. Rovering gives us a focus on learning, service, and citizenship.
Through a model of knighthood, we practice chivalry, honor, and deliberate questing for self-improvement and helping others. We practice camaraderie and ceremony to emphasize our values.
We are not a political, activist, or social justice group. Our goal is to serve people, not movements. If you want to scout just for scouting's sake, this is the place to do it!
How You Can Help
We are a new and growing Crew, and we would love to have you onboard! Even if you don't feel up to a lot of hiking or outdoor things, you can still contribute much through your other talents. Please see the How to Join page to get started. If you just want to be a friend of the Crew, we would still love to have your time and talents available to help our Rovers learn and grow. Please contact the RSL if you wish to contribute such to the Crew.
This Crew services the Davis County, Utah area. Exceptions can be made for other counties in Utah.
