The Deep River Rover Crew was the first R4LA Rover crew, formed in 2020 by Ken Pataky, based in Jamestown, North Carolina, but expanded to include Rovers from other parts of North Carolina and Texas and now includes all Lone Rovers in R4LA. The Deep River Rovers sponsored the First R4LA Rover Moot in October, 2020 at Uwharrie National Forest in North Carolina, and the Second R4LA Rover Moot at Raven Knob Scout Reservation in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, where they hiked, backpacked, cooked, swam, and completed Rover training in knot tying, lashing, pioneering, axe & hatchet work, and just had tons of fun.
The Deep River Rover Crew helps maintain the trails at the Piedmont Environmental Center in High Point, a nature preserve with 376 acres and over 11 miles of hiking trails, as well keeping the roadside area along Penny Road in its vicinity clean of trash. We currently have monthly virtual meetings on 3rd Sundays at 8pm EST/EDT. |
We are always looking for those adults of any age interested in enjoying Scouting, camping and hiking in the outdoors, camaraderie with other Rovers, and serving our communities. We also provide mentoring and training opportunities.
